i have some doubts about this model because i literally can't find a proper review on it http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814131706&ignorebbr=1&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=11552995&PID=8155920&SID=
1-)do this thing overheat because of the one fan?
2-) this card has the same poor pcb has the other red devil?
3-) how well does it overclocks?
4-) do you recomend this card? because this is a killer deal
I just got one of these, and I'm sending it back because it idles at 80 degrees C. I've talked to several others with 480s, and their cards don't run anywhere near that temp. I think there's something wrong with the firmware because when I manually set the fan speed/temp curve it cools off just fine and is quiet. The problem is that you must have software running to keep the temperature down, and it has to be set to manual. I sent an email to support and they told me this was normal (I think they skipped the part where I said 'idle'). I sent a clarification email and haven't heard back yet.
The card's performance is comparable to my GTX 970, which is only warm to the touch under load, and makes less noise than the slow 120mm fan on my CPU water-cooler radiator.
The 480 performs well and is made very well. The heatsink mounting plate that goes on the backside of the pcb is machined, not stamped like most other cards, and is bolted on in a very solid way -- it makes me think they were preparing for high temperatures. I just wish the thing knew how to control its fans without software.
