Alcatel has announced the first smartphone to run on Mozilla's Firefox mobile operating system: the One Touch Fire.

The smartphone has a 3.5-inch HVGA TN display and a 3.2-megapixel camera. It's powered by a 1 GHz processor and 256 MB of RAM. Internal memory of 512 MB NAND (end-user memory is 180 MB) can be expanded to 32 GB through a microSD card.

A 1,400 mAh battery delivers talk time of 12 hours (2G), 7 hours (3G) and standby time of 400 hours (2G)/300 hours (3G). Other features include a light sensor, a proximity sensor, AGPS, G-sensor, Stereo FM and Bluetooth 3.0.

The first Firefox smartphone will launch through Deutshe Telecom this summer in Europe, with Poland the first region scheduled to receive it.

It's seems like a sub $120 phone, if the App Store is any good by December, I'll get one for work, and my little girl can play with it. Like I'm doing with my $100 Galaxy y ATM

Like I'm doing with my $100 Galaxy y ATMI'm sure the app market will grow very quickly, being open source and all i'm pretty sure the selection process to get to the store will be simpler and faster.

Since I live and work in 3d world countries, I would consider buying one if the price is right (people rob us for phones fairly frequently). I already keep a 45 dollar "dumb phone" on me to use around town. I could handle laying out a 100 or so for a phone like this one. If it gets stolen, I'll get over it.
