MSI’s Raider 16 Max HX (starting at $2,999) is one of the fastest gaming laptops, featuring an Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus CPU and up to an Nvidia RTX 5090. Besides performance, this laptop delivers a vibrant OLED display and lasts much longer on battery than expected.

While it’s missing a mechanical keyboard and could use a faster storage drive, it remains a viable pick if you’ve got the cash – our RTX 5090 review model is priced at a lofty $4,099.

When I initially read long battery life in the summary, I thought you were joking. 8.5+ Hours is not bad at all for such a beefy laptop when some of the competition laptops are not even half that. And those cooling pipes look massive.

Also I dont understand why they make the airintake at the bottom rather than on the sides like the Macbook pros. If you keep this laptop on the lap, both air intake ducts get fully blocked and/or will suck cloth fibers and block the HS Fins.

MSI has the habit of placing the air-intakes at the bottom rather than on the sides. I have really good MSI laptop (4 years old) from MSI and it has the same (but only) problem: One gets very toasty legs when using the laptop that way!

And that's with a 3050 not a 5090 GPU! Good thing I don't use it for gaming, but still toasty.
