OWC Releases Envoy Pro EX Portable SSDs
Other World Computing has released two portable USB 3.0 SSDs.
OWC, otherwise known as Other World Computing, has released its Envoy Pro EX portable SSD. In essence, it is a portable hard drive, but based on an SSD.
The unit features a Sandforce powered OWC Aura Pro 6G SSD, offering read and write speeds of up to 436 MB/s and 429 MB/s, respectively. The unit is driven by a USB 3.0 interface that takes care of both data transfer and power; therefore, no external AC adapter is needed.
OWC's Envoy Pro EX SSD has been designed to compliment the looks of Apple products. According to Jim Tanous, it is "absolutely beautiful and on par with the best that has come out of Jony Ive's (SVP of Industrial Design at Apple) labs."
"We're very excited to add the ultra-portable Envoy Pro EX to our storage solution lineup. Its functionality combined with its rugged, yet aesthetically pleasing aluminum design make the Envoy Pro EX a beautiful addition to any system," said Larry O'Connor, CEO of OWC.
The units will hit the market in two versions: 240 GB and 480 GB, priced with an MSRP price of $319.99 and $599.99, respectively.
