The K-series SKUs, such as the Core i9-12900K and Core i5-12600K lead Intel's 12th Generation Alder Lake army to the battle. Although the non-K series are slated for a later release, Canadian retailer DirectDial (courtesy of momomo_us) has given us a first look at the pricing for the more budget-friendly chips.
The Core i7-12700F is the 65W variant of the Core i7-12700K. From the model name alone, we can confirm that the Core i7-12700F comes with a locked multiplier and without integrated graphics. Due to the strict TDP limit, the Core i7-12700F runs with lower clock speeds as opposed to the Core i7-12700K. The fine details are unknown at this point, but the rumor is that the Core i7-12700F could have a 4.8 GHz P-core boost clock, only 100 MHz less than the K counterpart.
DirectDial listed the Core i7-12700F with a $365 price tag so it'll be a strong competitor for AMD's Ryzen 7 5800X that now retails for $386.66. For reference, the Core i7-12700K is faster than the Ryzen 7 5800X so it'll be interesting to see if the Core i7-12700F can still maintain the lead with a lower TDP.

*Specifications are unconfirmed.
The Core i5-12400F and Core i5-12400 may debut under the $250 mark. The Canadian store had the two chips up for $200 and $230, respectively. Regardless of the model, the 65W Alder Lake processor reportedly wields six Golden Cove cores and will not employ any Gracemont cores. Gamers who plan to pair the hexa-core chip with a discrete graphics card will probably pick the Core i5-12400F and potentially save up to $30, which appears to be the value for the integrated graphics.
Early Core i5-12400F benchmarks have revealed that the Alder Lake processor trades blows with the Ryzen 5 5600X, which currently sells for $309. We'll need to see more benchmarks to declare a winner. If DirectDial's pricing is accurate, the Core i5-12400F may be the Ryzen 5 5600X killer after all.
For this generation, AMD hasn't launched any quad-core Ryzen 5000 processors, leaving the Core i3-12100F in a strange place. The Ryzen 3 5300G could be a rival for the Core i3-12100F, but the Zen 3 APU is exclusive to OEMs. Furthermore, the Ryzen 3 5300G comes with integrated Vega graphics, making it more comparable to the Core i3-12300 or Core i3-12100. Being an OEM chip, you'll only find the Ryzen 3 5300G inside prebuilt PCs or on e-commerce platforms, such as eBay.

During the Alder Lake announcement, Intel stated that the chip´maker has started shipping up to 28 different Alder Lake SKUs to its OEM partners. These Alder Lake-powered systems are scheduled to come out in early 2022, lending some credence to the rumors that Alder Lake non-K parts might debut in January.

TerryLaze Rocket lake didn't have any i3 parts (due to shortages maybe? ) so this could should be in huge bold letters and should probably read wont.Reply -
InvalidError Now the $200 question: how much will decent quality B560 boards to put non-K CPUs on will cost?Reply
And with DDR5 costing twice as much as DDR4 in the 3600-18 to 4000-18 range, what will the ratio of DDR4 to DDR5 boards be? I'd expect DDR4 to remain quite popular for more budget-conscious builds for quite a while. -
Alvar "Miles" Udell I don't see a market for the Core i3-12100F. The price is low, but without a GPU, and without any cheap entry level GPUs these days, I'm having trouble thinking of one, unless Intel is planning on releasing sub $50 GPUs into the open market.Reply -

If you go with an IGP-less CPU, it is most likely because you want more powerful graphics than Xe IGPs' 24-32 EUs and you aren't going to get any such thing new for under $200 even on a good day unless Intel pumps out those 96 EU SKUs with 4GB of GDDR6 like it means to take a serious bite out of the entry-level market.Alvar Miles Udell said:I don't see a market for the Core i3-12100F. If all you want is display out because the i3 isn't availabe in non-F trim and you don't have a spare GPU floating around, then yeah, the i3-F doesn't make sense as you are far better off getting the i5-12400 instead. -

The i3-12100F would be excellent for an office-type PC if it just had an iGPU. Even with the low end Xe dGPUs if they were priced any higher than $50 it'd make little sense to get them both instead of just the slightly more expensive Core i5-12400 or the Ryzen 3 5300G if AMD ever releases it.
Even for a headless closet server it doesn't make a heck of a lot of sense with that 65w TDP -

The lowest-end DG2 specs I have seen (88EUs) should make it at least 3X as fast as Intel's IGPs (24EUs for 11400 and presumably 12400 too, 32EUs for models above) and 2X as fast as AMD's. In today's market, that would land in the neighborhood of a GTX1650 Super which currently costs over $300.Alvar Miles Udell said:Even with the low end Xe dGPUs if they were priced any higher than $50 it'd make little sense to get them both instead of just the slightly more expensive Core i5-12400 or the Ryzen 3 5300G if AMD ever releases it.
$50 would barely cover the 4GB of GDDR6 needed for a remotely usable dGPU. -
korekan i agree that it will be next budget friendly build. but imo the i5 should already started with 8 core and 8 thread rather than 6 - 6. and the i7 should already started with 12 -12 atleast or even better 16 - 16Reply -

With the i9 already pulling in excess of 220W in stock form, I doubt adding more cores would do anyone much good.korekan said:i agree that it will be next budget friendly build. but imo the i5 should already started with 8 core and 8 thread rather than 6 - 6. and the i7 should already started with 12 -12 atleast or even better 16 - 16
