Lenovo Announces VIBE X2 Pro, P90 Smartphones, Plus E-Ink Smartband And Selfie Flash Accessory
Today at CES, Lenovo announced two new smartphones and a couple of accompanying accessories.
The first smartphone, the Lenovo VIBE X2 Pro, is a premium device with a full-metal body and the multi-layer design that we've seen before on the VIBE X2. It comes with an octa-core Cortex A53-based Snapdragon 615 (ARMv8 architecture), that is clocked up to 1.5 GHz. It has a 5.3" Full HD screen, 2 GB of RAM, 32 GB of storage, two 13 MP cameras for back and front (which makes it ideal for selfies), Bluetooth 4.1 LE, Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac, and 4G LTE support.
The second new smartphone, the Lenovo P90, is powered by an Intel Atom Z3560 processor, which supports 64-bit computing. However, it's important to note that the benefit of a 64-bit Atom processor over a 32-bit Atom processor is significantly smaller than the benefit of moving from the 32-bit ARMv7 architecture to the 64-bit ARMv8 architecture. The P90 also comes with an XMM 7262 modem, which is part of Intel's first globally-supported LTE-Advanced platform.
The P90 has a 5.5" Full HD screen, a 13MP back camera with Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), a 5MP front-camera, and a large 4,000 mAh battery. The device will arrive in three different colors: Onyx Black, Pearl White and Lava Red.
Lenovo announce
d a smartphone accessory as well, called the VIBE Xtension Selfie Flash, which is actually what the name is describing: an external selfie flash for the VIBE X2 Pro smartphone. The accessory has 8 LED bulbs inside that create a diffused light over a 1 meter radius. It can be plugged straight into the audio port of the X2 Pro, and then it will get synchronized with the phone's camera shutter. The flash accessory will cost $29.
Lenovo also announced a smartband called the VIBE Band VB10, which comes with a curved E-ink display that works well in direct sunlight. It has a week-long battery life with normal use, but if both the Bluetooth connection and the screen are always turned on, it only lasts 24 hours.

The band has a
metal front cover and a rubberized strap. It receives phone notifications and messages, can refuse and silence calls, and monitor your steps, calories and sleep. You can also set it up to warn you when you go too far away from your phone, so you don't forget it. One other feature that few smartwatches or smartbands have today is that it's also waterproof and can be submersed 1 meter deep for 30 minutes. The VIBE Band VB10 will cost $89.
The VIBE X2 Pro smartphone, the VIBE Xtension Selfie Flash accessory and the VIBE Band VB10 are expected to appear in April this year, while the P90 smartphone will arrive in February (not available in US).
