LG.Philips reportedly sets 8G substrate standard

published Market research firm DisplayBank is reporting that LG.Philips LCD has fixed the size of its eighth-generation (8G) glass substrate to 2200x2500mm, a size referred to by Taiwan LCD panel makers as "unfamiliar". The reported 8G substrate could be cut into eight 47" panels or six 55" panels and would be larger than the 8G substrates planned by Sharp, which plans to move into mass production at the world's first 8G line in the second half of this year.
