Report: AMD Radeon R9 270X Features Tahiti LE Core
AMD's next-generation R9 270X will reportedly feature a similar "Tahiti LE" to the Radeon HD 7950 and HD 7870 limited edition.
According to a post from Overclockers UK staff member "Gibbo," AMD's upcoming mid-range R9 270X graphics card will include a revised version of the "Tahiti LE" core that he describes as a "crippled HD 7950" with 2 GB of memory over a 256-bit memory bus.
Though technical specifications aren't publicly available yet, the presence of "Tahiti LE" core suggests that the graphics card will feature between 1,536 (HD 7870 LE) and 1,792 shader units and that the GPU may be clocked at between 800 MHz (HD 7950) and 975 MHz (HD 7870 LE).
The Radeon R9 270X has been priced at $199 and is expected to arrive on retail shelves in October.

washd123 seems pointless when a HD7950 can be had for $199 or less. Would make more sense if it was =>HD7950Reply -
invisibilian I just had enough with this re-branding business. if you don't have a entirely new product line-up to sell, then just introduce that one or two new products that you have. stop throwing your old stuffs in and re-branding them to confuse your customers. That applies to you, too. NvidiaReply -

Yup i saw recently where 7950 can be had for 190 -
tomfreak Whats the point of having rebrands lol. In Nvidia u lose ur SLI compability with same older card. In AMD u lose flexibility, because the newer SAME card with diff name have to be the Primary graphic card.Reply -
cats_Paw This rebranding is almost as usefull at the post by DeborahCMcDougall...Reply
Btw Toms, why you still have problems with this? Dont remmber seeing those posts before you made the switch to the new UI. -
maza90210 Wait, I thought the 7870 XT was a crippled 7950, with almost 7950 performance, so if the R9 270x is a faster 7870 XT, it should be on par with the 7950. If not a couple of FPS off, and you could probably overclock to between 7950-7970 levelsReply
