With the release date for Crysis 2 may have been slipped back to the end of March 2011, we're assured of two blockbuster first-person shooters next year.
Today at QuakeCon, id Software announced the official release dates for Rage.
Rage is launching simultaneously on the PC, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 on September 13, 2011. Europe will get it two days later on September 15, 2011.
That's exactly 13 months from today. Will you be able to handle the wait?

bustapr Meh, I was never really interested in this game in the first place. Ive had enough post-apokaliptic-mutant-wasteland-first-person-shooters.Reply -
idisarmu I can't wait to see this turn into Rage Forever. 13 months in the tech world is an eternity.Reply -
TheRockMonsi I hope the guys at id can make this a blockbuster, because if not they're in a lot of trouble.Reply -
belardo But it looks so yummie!Reply
Bet it won't suck like UT 3 did. And I've bought all the UT games. -
RADIO_ACTIVE They have been working on it a long time, should be a dang good game!Reply
Some of the screens in this game look better than Crysis does IMO. -
cable4 It should be a very good year for gaming. All games are getting an overhaul and the higher resolution combined with the power of directx 11 and big screens makes having a higher end gaming rig more acceptable for the living room.Reply -
Spanky Deluxe I can understand why it's taking them so long - they're building a new game engine from the ground up after all. If they perfect it then we'll probably see a slew of games using the licensed engine, which could be fun.Reply
As far as the actual game goes, I'm not all that excited about it. ID haven't been on the ball in terms of gameplay in the last few years in my opinion. Doom 3 was a letdown compared to the original Doom and Doom 2 - they changed the gameplay too much although I've heard that Doom 4 will be more like the originals.
The game I'm waiting for some news about the most is Half Life 2: Episode 3 or even Half Life 3.
