Why you can trust Tom's Hardware Our expert reviewers spend hours testing and comparing products and services so you can choose the best for you. Find out more about how we test.

The Goodram PX700 is a budget PCIe 4.0 drive that delivers everything you need: good performance, great power efficiency, and all in a single-sided package that runs cool. Sometimes it really is as simple as picking one drive to meet whatever your storage needs are at the moment. It’s not the first model that comes to mind for this segment, but in our testing it performed better than expected as a good drive that may otherwise run under the radar.

Goodram is not a new or no-name company, even if the “good RAM” moniker seems a little too on the nose. Instead, it’s a memory assembler in the EU with quite some history. This, in fact, makes it more approachable in comparison to a lot of the new names we have seen on AliExpress and increasingly on Amazon. We expect reliability or at least good support from the company, and the TBW on this one seems to reflect that this isn’t an ultra-budget drive.

    Prices:
    1 TB = $348
    2 TB = $613

"The Goodram PX700 is a budget PCIe 4.0 drive that delivers everything you need"
I have the feeling the word "budget" in this sentence is not what the author think it is.

But hey, the current year is 2026 AI (no more BC / DC/ BCE / ACE etc, now it is the year of our AI overlords). So, maybe it became "budge" and nobody noticed.

    $613 for 2TB on a PCI-e 4.0 SSD from an unknown company? You can buy a top-tier PCI-e 5.0 Samsung 9100 Pro 2TB right now for $399. Something isn't adding up.

Samsung is good company? Not for Linux. Last year this time I bought Samsung PCIe5 and all returned.

Yeah Samsung hasn't been good since the 830 to 850 days. WD/San Disk is top tier, followed by Hynix, then Solidigm, then Micron, and Samsung at the bottom of the pile. Kioxia/Toshiba is great but they really only serve enterprise and would put them near the top but they aren't even trying (much like Micron).

That's quite expensive for an unknown brand. And what's up with so many unknown brands of both SSDs and RAM sticks?
