FarCry Patch v1.2 With Shader Model 3.0

Benchmarks

Level Research

Now for the benchmarks and an explanation of the graphs. The light green bars represent the results achieved on the GeForce 6800 using SM 3.0. The dark green bars stand for the scores using SM 2.0, which is of course the version the ATi cards used as well. The following tests were run with the flashlight turned off.

Upper value (light green) = SM 3.0, lower value = SM 2.0.

Upper value (light green) = SM 3.0, lower value = SM 2.0.

We see that Shader Model 3.0 boosts the performance of our GeForce 6800 by a noticeable margin, giving it a clear lead over the Radeon X800 cards. The GeForce 5950 Ultra's results are disappointing, however.

Upper value (light green) = SM 3.0, lower value = SM 2.0.

Upper value (light green) = SM 3.0, lower value = SM 2.0.

When image quality enhancing features such as FSAA (Full Scene Anti Aliasing) and AF (anisotropic filtering) are enabled, the performance lead between the 6800U und X800 XT PE levels out again. Moving down the line, we see the GeForce 6800 GT outpaces the X800 Pro, its direct competitor both in price and performance. The standard GeForce 6800 then follows this duo.
