My Arcade launches portable Pac-Man 45th anniversary-themed retro arcade games — available in both pocketable and desktop versions
These are officially licensed games that would be perfect for retro gaming enthusiasts.
Retro video gaming company My Arcade just launched the official Pac-Man 45th Anniversary retro arcade consoles. The company says that it will offer the Pac-Man 45th Anniversary Mighty Player and Pocket Player Max to retro gaming fans, both of which will come preloaded with Pac-Man (Classic), Pac-Man (Speed-Up), Pac-Land, Super Pac-Man, and Pac & Pal. These retro consoles aren’t as large as the old arcade cabinets, but they still offer the same level of enjoyment in a package you can carry with you anywhere. The larger Mighty Player is available for $119.99, while the more portable Pocket Player Max can be had for $69.99.

The Mighty Player is built for tabletop gaming, with a 3.5-inch full-color display, a joystick, and A/B buttons in a wooden case. It also includes a 3.5mm audio out port and a rechargeable battery that’s good enough for five to six hours of gaming. Although this console is less portable, it allows retro fans to enjoy Pac-Man the way it was originally meant to be played, making it the perfect addition to a retro gamer’s collection. But if you prefer to play on the go, the Pocket Player Max comes in a handheld gaming console form factor and trades the joystick for a D-Pad, but still retains the same 3.5-inch screen, headphone port, and battery life.
This isn’t the first “new” Pac-Man game announced recently, as Atari released the Atari 2600+ Pac-Man Edition just last month. This home console came with just two Pac-Man titles in the box, but since it’s cartridge-based, you can use it to play your (or your parents’) old Atari 2600 and 7800 games as well, making it more flexible than what My Arcade offers. Still, nothing beats the feeling of playing in a miniaturized arcade cabinet on your desk if you really want to bring yourself back to the gaming scene of the ‘70s and ‘80s.
